The Phoenix Fuel Masters defeated the Mahindra Flood Busters, 114-104, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
JC Intal topscored for Phoenix with 24 points, to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Matthew Wright chipped in 21 points, while Prince Caperal had a double-double of 12 points and 17 boards.
The Fuel Masters established a 32-23 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Phoenix now holds a 2-1 record in the league standings, while Mahindra remains winless at 0-3.
In the second game, Japeth Aguilar registered 23 points and 13 rebounds to power Barangay Ginebra past Rain or Shine, 81-74.
Ginebra notched its first win of the Philippine Cup despite going 0-for-14 from the three-point range.
In the final four minutes, the Gin Kings held Rain or Shine to zero field goals, while finishing the game on an 11–0 run.
Raymond Almazan led the Elasto Painters with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
