The GlobalPort Batang Pier relied on star guard Terrence Romeo to hand Barangay Ginebra a 91-84 defeat in the PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday (December 11).
Romeo finished with a game-high 35 points on 50% shooting from the field. He knocked down five triples and added two assists and two steals.
JR Quinahan, who was acquired from Rain or Shine in the offseason, contributed 15 points and nine boards.
The Batang Pier were up 17 at the half before allowing Ginebra to trim the deficit down to three, 68-65, at the end of the third quarter. But a triple from Romeo at the 4:49 mark of the fourth quarter gave GlobalPort a 10-point lead — an advantage they never relinquished until the final buzzer.
GlobalPort, who forced the Gin Kings to 20 turnovers in the contest, improved to 3-1 in the league standings, while Ginebra slid down to 1-2.
In the first game, San Miguel Beer defeated Mahindra, 94-91.
Reigning MVP Junemar Fajardo had 28 points and 15 rebounds, while Arwind Santos chipped in 18 points and nine boards.
Alex Mallari and LA Revilla paced the Flood Busters with 21 and 15 markers, respectively.
